Lucky Leprechaun Giveaway Hop



It's that time again!  I haven't participated in a Giveaway Hop in quite some time.  SO in the spirit of all things lucky, and my over abundance of bad luck, I thought I'd give one of my followers a lucky day because I CAN do that :-)

This giveaway hop is hosted by Books Complete Me & I Am A Reader, Not A Writer.  So check them out.

    I was diagnosed with a really rare central nervous system disease 3 years ago tomorrow (the 18th). I went from a vibrant active RN working on my Masters degree who had a side business making homemade soaps and lotions, etc.. enjoyed all kinds of outdoor sports and activities with friends and family and then BAM, overnight I couldn't walk and I had severe pain in my legs. It took a long time to get diagnosed and I went through literal HEll and so did my family & friends.

    I won't go anymore into detail but the last 3 months I've been bedridden.

    The lucky part is I was referred to the most wonderful specialist!
    On February 21 I saw her and she ran all kinds of tests, blood work and she found out so much that other specialists missed. Today, although I'm still not really able to walk well, I CAN walk to the bathroom and shower by myself and spend time with my children without being in a drug induced haze. Reading has always been an outlet for me, a sort of escapism from the pain and the stress of losing myself and my identity. I've always read since I was little and always had a book or three with me at all times :o]
    Books have been an integral part of who I am.

    So, yes, I feel lucky to have met this wonderful specialist who took 2 hours with myself and my husband and actually listened. She changed my medications and she made my life so much better but the best thing? She gave me HOPE !!! I dare to hope that I can actually have quality of life for more than a few weeks at a time. My affected areas are already feeling better;almost miraculous! My family and friends are so happy yet afraid to get their hopes up to high but I have a good feeling in my heart that this awful disease isn't going to rule over me anymore!
    I'm very, very LUCKY!
