Book Blog Hop (11) + Follow Friday (10) + Week(s) in Review

It's Follow Friday!

This is my tenth Follow My Blog Friday, a weekly meme hosted by hosted by Parajunkee's View! I have taken a whole month off! Phew! Nice to be back :-)

What do I do beyond reading and reviewing for a hobby?
I do stuff other then reading, reviewing and blogging? I have tons of hobbies.  Too many for my husband's wallet ;-)  One of my favorite is PHOTOGRAPHY! Also, we have seasons tickets for ICE HOCKEY! We all love ICE HOCKEY in this family, hubby plays, son plays... I want to play but might also take up FIGURING SKATING.

Book Blogger Hop

This is my eleventh Book Blogger Hop, a weekly meme hosted by Crazy-For-Books

Book Blogger Hop Question:

What popular and hyped book in the blogosphere did you NOT enjoy and how did you feel about posting your review?

Oh my.  Do I have to answer?  I really do hate when I come across a book I just can't get into because it doesn't mean the book is really horrible it just means it didn't connect with me.  Kind of like television shows.  An example, FRIENDS.  OHMYGOODNESS I HATED THAT SHOW, but everyone else loved it and the length of the run and salary of the actors proved it was a hit.  I just wasn't into it.

One book I recently did not finish was Extraordinary- the hype of that wasn't that of some though.  I love the author, the writing style was wonderful I just couldn't connect.  That's all it amounts to.  Some stories don't reach out to me the same.

There are a few more but I haven't posted my reviews yet.

So, what about you?

---------------------

What is new this week? And the last (few)...

Let's talk about what's went on over the past month or so that I've been on leave from BBH + FF...

On a personal note:
The Thanksgiving holiday treated us well and it was nice to visit with my husband's side of the family.  Over the holiday weekend I started another blog (link to come in the next few weeks) which will be my online-journal documenting my DIY + Cooking attempts.  It's cool to see how awesome something can look even when it takes not-so-yummy!

On the Blog:
Like my new banner?!  I do, took me forever but I'm totally happy with it.  Also, I've been playing around with the sidebars... hoping to find a happy medium of useful info and fabulousness!

Reviews you may have missed:
Tagged by Mara Purnhagen
Illyria by Elizabeth Hand
Unlocked by Karen Kingsbury
The Oracle Rebounds by Alison van Diepen
The Mermaid's Mirror by L.K. Madigan

Upcoming:
A review or two :-)
There will be a On Fab's Doorstep this week because I got a totally fab surprise in the mailbox today!
I'm planning on having a holiday giveaway, or two! So watch out for those.

  13. LOL. No, new friends, I am not Canadian. My love for hockey also does not come from our area as we live in THE SOUTH! The only thing people here know is GA-FOOTBALL! I have a whole story on how Hockey made its way into our veins but I'll spare you all ;-)

Nice to meet you all, I'll be returning hops soon!

  18. Hopped over to thank you for participating in my 21 Day B&B Bash. I appreciate your comment. I would love to try my hand at photography some day, but my pocket book won't allow it with my overly large passion for buying books. But I love black and white photos and have lots decorating my walls.

    Have a great weekend!

  19. I love it! A question pertaining something other than books! Here's the
short list of what I'm doing when I'm not reading:

Cooking, gaming, gambling, drinking, smoking, golfing and sometimes even
    watching TV.

I expound on all of the above at my blog. Follow me here -

  22. Hi! I neither love nor hate Friends - if I want to watch TV and there's nothing else on, I'll watch it, but won't go out of my way to. In books, I'm not a fan of the angel books that are popular in teen fiction at the moment. I don't mind writing honest reviews about what I like and don't like about a book, but feel bad if the dislikes are so much more significant than the likes.

  23. That's too bad! I was looking into trying Extraordinary. I might have to wait on it now though. I'm a new follower! My hop is at Coffee Table Press

  24. We are huge professional hockey fans in this house, tho for rival teams, which can sometimes make for interesting watching experiences, lol.

Figure skating was something I always wanted to learn how to do, but, like roller skating, I simply could never get the hang of :(
