Book Blogger Hop (20) + Follow Friday (19) + Week in Review

It's Follow Friday!

This is Follow My Blog Friday, a weekly meme hosted by hosted by Parajunkee's View!

Follow Friday Question:

What's on your playlist?

Wow!  I don't have real playlists.  I sort of just shuffle through.  I love stuff from the 90s.  Wilson Phillips.  Salt-n-Peppa.  Sir Mix A Lot.   But I also like Dredg, The Dirty Heads, Sublime, Lady Gaga, No Doubt, Black Eyed Peas.  I even love Trans Siberian Orchestra.  I really like it all :-)  I even adore Sam Cooke.

Book Blogger Hop Question:

When you find a book you like, do you go and hunt down all of the books by that author?

I do, I like to see if it is something I'd like!  I have to admit though,  I have come across some books that I just can't get into as easily.  While an author's style may transfer from book to book, the voices and story does not (unless it is a series.)  But I do love to see what they offer and if it sounds like something I'd like, I'll pick it up, or at least to keep an eye out for it on sale if I'm not quite sure.

It's Follow Friday!

This is Follow My Blog Friday, a weekly meme hosted by hosted by Parajunkee's View!

Follow Friday Question:

What is your favorite romance hero-type? Stereotype wise. Do you like the strong silent type or the brute macho man?
Ah, must I pick just one.  I love the hot, bad, brooders.  I love the slightly geeked-out cuties.  I love the tan, blonde and blue.  I like the sexy vampires and the cuddly shifters.  I love them all, no discrimination here!  But I must say I have a soft spot for the faeries and pixies.  Those ears do it for me.  Just like Angel wings... to wrap me up in ;-)

Follow Friday Question:

What was your favorite subject in school?  Whatever the easiest for me to catch on at the time :-)  I like parts of each subject but never really cared for one over the other.  I like anything where I could be creative.  So if I had to color a frog's anatomy in Biology I loved that, I loved writing in English, and I enjoyed Modern Dance.

What Book Am I Most Looking Forward to Being Published In 2011?

You really don't expect me to pick one do you?! Impossible.  Look to the <---
There in my sidebar I have a quick run down of some of my most anticipated for earlier in the year.

Next week I believe I am posting my 2011 spread sheet of all of the books being published in 2011 I am hoping to read and get my hands on.  It's color coded and everything, lol.  I'm only done with up through March though.  Making those spread sheets are hard work, especially when you are a bookaholic!

Follow Friday Question:

What books have you discovered lately from someone's blog?

Actually, Ladybird Ladybird by Abra Ebner over at GReads!  There were more... a whole browser tabs full but it seems as if when I tried switching through it decided to freeze up and *x* out before I could add them on goodreads.  hmph! But, def, Ladybird Ladybird stuck out to me

Book Blogger Hop Question:

What book influenced or changed your life? How did it influence/change you?

I think this is a hard question.  There are SO MANY books out there that have just one line that strums a chord with me... brings back a familiar or lost emotions, opens my eyes to something else, or makes me grateful for what I had.  If I Stay by Gayle Forman is an intense book and it really gives you a look into how easily you can lose everything you know and that your world centered around.  That book reminds you that each moment is really precious.   Sing Me To Sleep by Angela Morrison is pretty intense as well, another book that makes you appreciate every moment you have.

Book Blogger Hop Question:

What popular and hyped book in the blogosphere did you NOT enjoy and how did you feel about posting your review?

Oh my.  Do I have to answer?  I really do hate when I come across a book I just can't get into because it doesn't mean the book is really horrible it just means it didn't connect with me.  Kind of like television shows.  An example, FRIENDS.  OHMYGOODNESS I HATED THAT SHOW, but everyone else loved it and the length of the run and salary of the actors proved it was a hit.  I just wasn't into it.

One book I recently did not finish was Extraordinary- the hype of that wasn't that of some though.  I love the author, the writing style was wonderful I just couldn't connect.  That's all it amounts to.  Some stories don't reach out to me the same.

There are a few more but I haven't posted my reviews yet.

So, what about you?

Book Blogger Hop Question:

What are your thoughts on losing followers?  Have you ever stopped following a blog?

No, I have not stopped following a blog.  Will I, probably not unless someone who 'promised' a certain aspect to their blog doesn't follow through and it becomes offensive, discriminatory, etc.  If you claim to be a Y.A. Book blog but you start posting offensive materials (links, pictures, thoughts, views,) I might have to 'unfollow.'  Make sense?

As for losing followers?  You can't please everyone and while I might take it personally I would try not to.  Some people do better having a smaller community of blogs they follow- and that is fine.  Everyone has different preferences so if you find a blog that is more tailored to you and your roll is getting a little uncomfortable then by all means...

So, what about you?

This is my ninth Book Blogger Hop, a weekly meme hosted by Crazy-For-Books .

Book Blogger Hop Question:

When you read a book that you just can't get into, do you stick it out and keep reading or move to your next title?
Wow.  So, I have had only a handful of books I have had to push aside because no matter how hard I tried, or how many attempts I just literally hated the story, the characters, the whole book as a whole.  I know that sounds bad, but not everything is for everyone, right?  I am pretty open about stuff, although I have certain ways I definitely gravitate too, but I can usually push through.  One example was Stephenie Meyer's THE HOST.  WOW, I died for the first 200 or so pages then I fell in love with it.  I held on pretty good there and was surprised at the end.

So to sum it up, I will usually give it a go and if I can't do it I'll set it aside until I am in a mood for something of that genre and try again.  If I give it 50 pages, then possibly 100 (depending on the size) and nothing is reaching out at me and nothing is processing then I'll eventually have to push it aside.

I'm happy only a handful of books have made it into this category for me :-)

So, what about you?

What is new this week?

Soon I'll be starting my new feature Flip-It-Forward and Flippin' Backwards soon.  Check it out in my Features section.

I made my first trip to one of the county libraries for the first time since living in this state.  Overall, it was my first trip to a library in YEARS.  Let's just say it isn't exactly how I remember libraries being but I'll leave that for a post I am working on.  I did pick up a few books there that I'll be showing in my upcoming On Fab's Doorstep.  One of the books can be found in my Waiting On Pay Day post.

I posted two reviews:

Infinite Days  + Crescendo

I posted an my FIRST Author Interview.

I took part in two weekly memes.

Waiting For PayDay, a newish meme, by The Bookish Snob.

Also, On Fab's Doorstep, name inspired by IMM by The Story Siren.
