Fab in the Spotlight

In celebration of my first Fab In the Spotlight and the upcoming release of Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare, releasing August 31, I thought I it was fitting the first object of this post be The Mortal Instruments.

I can't even begin to explain how much I enjoyed The Mortal Instruments (trilogy.)  So much so that when I read the third installment I could have cried that Cassandra Clare had posted to her website that those were going to be the only three in the series.

Of course, I was excited to hear about the next series, which at the time was still unnamed, but I was left heartbroken and actually told several people that she would be back.  That she had to be back with more of Jace, Clary, and Sebastian.  The saying "all good things must come to an end" wasn't sufficing as it did with several other series I read.  I wasn't ready for this to end.

And guess what....

The Mortal Instruments are back!

It all started with the City of Bones, City of Ashes and City of Glass and now we have to look forward to the City of Fallen Angels, City of Lost Souls and City of Heavenly Fire.

According to the Mortal Instruments website, Book Four's cover is said to be revealed December of 2010.  I can't wait.  The covers for the first three installments were gorgeous as is the cover for the upcoming the Clockwork Angel, the first book in The Infernal Devices series (which is the actually the prequel to The Mortal Instruments series.)

One of the best things about The Mortal Instrument books was the fact that I saw it all.  I didn't need the cover or reader renderings posted to fan-sites on what the characters or setting looked like.  Being able to do this is hit and miss with a lot of books, sometimes you see it and sometimes you don't.  I definitely did with this series.  The proof alone was in Jace (Can anyone guess why? LOL)  Never once did I see a body with no face, or hear a voice with no body.

While Cassandra's writing painted every last word it didn't come at the price of over extravagant writing that left my head spinning unsure if she was trying to mimic Shakespeare.  Don't let that fool you, I found her writing very substantial and if you were expecting a 'quick read' it would be a 'quick read and a half, maybe two.'

Let's not forget the reread factor here.  These are books that will not be leaving my shelf unless it is to re-read them or replace them.

I was able to give the first three books in The Mortal Instruments series '5 STARS' all around.  I am pretty sure the next three in the series won't be anything less.  Nor will the upcoming prequel series, The Infernal Devices.

Don't forget, Clockwork Angel releases on August 31, 2010!
